Matt Emig was born in 1994 in Delaware, USA. In 2011, he received a full-tuition scholarship to study dance performance at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. He participated in exchanges with the Royal Conservatory of Dance in Antwerp (Belgium), and the University for Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt (Germany) and performed works by Jirí Kylián, Iván Pérez, Sharon Eyal, and Agostina D’Allesandro. In 2016, he graduated from the University of the Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honors in Dance Performance and a minor in Musical Theater. He went immediately to participate in Springboard Danse Montreal 2016, where he was offered a contract with MGM China Holdings Limited/Scénoplus Productions as a dancer, aerialist, puppeteer, and percussionist for MGM in Macau, China. In 2019, he worked as a dancer in Städtische Bühnen Frankfurt’s production of Rinaldo. He then went on to join the Staatsballett Hannover under the direction of Jörg Mannes as a guest artist. He joined Ballet Preljocaj in 2019.
