is recruiting:

A Benesh notator / Artistic Assistant / Rehearsal assistant

Ballet Preljocaj, a National Choreographic Centre, comprises 30 permanent dancers and presents more than 120 performances each year in France and internationally. Based at the Pavillon Noir in Aix-en-Provence, the company also curates a dance season and offers cultural programming throughout the year.

Under the responsibility of the Artistic Director, he/she will assist with creations as a Benesh notator / artistic assistant / rehearsal assistant.

Key Responsibilities

– Notation of Angelin Preljocaj’s choreographic works in the repertoire and in creation (Benesh notation system).
– Monitoring of creations and choreographic transmission to dancers.
– Occasional supervision of rehearsals in close collaboration with the Assistant Artistic Director.
– Participation in Ballet Preljocaj tours: rehearsals, supervision of the artistic team.
– In the absence of the Choreographer, he/she will supervise rehearsals and ensure the artistic quality and smooth running of performances.
– He/she will occasionally teach classes to dancers.

Required profile

– Benesh notator, knowledge of the Benesh notation system essential.
– Company rehearsal assistant and/or choreographer’s assistant.
– Dancer, choreographic artist.

Skills and personal qualities

– Artistic and teaching skills in the field of dance.
– Availability, organisational skills, ability to lead a group.
– Fluency in English.

Terms of employment

– Type of contract: 8-month fixed-term contract, full-time, renewable
– Availability: Evening and weekend work
– Start date: 4 May 2026
– Remuneration: According to the CCNEAC collective agreement and experience.
– Place of work: Pavillon Noir, Aix-en-Provence, France.
