Pavillon Noir – Angelin Preljocaj, Rudy Ricciotti

The Pavillon Noir, a radical, openwork concrete structure designed by Rudy Ricciotti for the Ballet Preljocaj in Aix-en-Provence, is on its way to becoming an icon of contemporary architecture. To render it, Angelin Preljocaj and filmmaker-visual artist Pierre Coulibeuf imagined choreographic sequences that explore the different spaces.

This unique book blends stills from the film and pages of the interview on black paper cut out in three horzontal strips, blending the voices of the choreographer and the architect with that of writer Eric Reinhardt, philosopher Jeanne Dautrey and astrophysicist Michel Cassé.
