AS PART OF THE RENCONTRES DES BALLETS JUNIORS EUROPÉENS
Two weeks of meetings and shows to celebrate the diversity and excellence of Europe’s ballet schools and junior ballet companies.

The young dancers of the Ballet Preljocaj Junior perform a captivating Angelin Preljocaj piece from 2003. Torn between ecstacy and unfettered freedom, they explore the edges of feeling and question those very instants when a being seems to absent itself. Trance, fainting and orgasm as a form of auto-eclipse set to the atmospheric music of French duo Air.

PRESS QUOTES

« (…) this highly sensual piece of abstract ballet is more a series of stunningly beautiful tableaux than a clear-cut story. »
The Argus, 18 mai 2004

« Sounds ideal for a transcendental experience. »
Times, 15 mai 2004

« Near Life Experience explores a world on the boundaries of consciousness, a world that exists when the body is overwhelmed by sensation and the mind floats free. Trance, orgasm, ecstasy and fainting are the stuff of this intensely sensual and deftly dreamy piece of dance theatre, and the atmosphere is further charged by the ambient soundtrack of the group Air (…) »
